Whirlwind Golf Club's Cattail Course is located at Wild Horse Pass near Chandler, Arizona, south of Phoenix Sky Harbor airport, in the foothills of the Sierra Estrella Mountains. It was designed by Gary Panks and reflects the Gila River landscape with cottonwood, mesquite, saguaro and palo verde trees, native grasses, rolling terrain and uncluttered views. The course is one of two 18-hole layouts at Whirlwind, alongside Devil's Claw, and the club has hosted the LPGA's Ford Championship presented by Wild Horse Pass. The site preserves the cultural heritage of the Gila River Indian Community, on whose land the course is built.
