Western Golf and Country Club in Redford, Michigan, opened in 1927 as part of a planned "Golf and Country Club District" developed by B.E. Taylor on former Burt Farms land. The championship golf course, spanning over 170 acres of rolling hills along a meandering river, was designed by Donald Ross and construction began alongside the clubhouse in 1926. The club transitioned to member ownership in 1945, eventually taking its current name in 1950, and has hosted competitions including the Michigan Open. A swimming pool and pool house, designed by Albert Kahn and built by R.E. Daly, were added in 1952.
